Leveraging Google Apps in Collaborative Learning - Norman Kim-Senior, Lawrenceville
Google Apps have, in some ways, revolutionized the way in which students utilize documents of all kinds. The ability to share work in progress, obtain live feedback, and generate discussion of written work in the virtual world addresses a number of challenges faced by teachers who are inclined to encourage student collaboration, but run into obstacles using traditional tools and face-to-face meetings. In addition, students report that they write more effectively and clearly when they have feedback, input, and discussion throughout the document creation process. This workshop will explore many of the tools available through Google Apps for Education (now called G-Suite) and will focus on a few areas:

- The kinds of lessons that work best when using collaborative documents whether it be brainstorming, writing, analyzing data, or creating presentations.
- Use of newer Google Apps, Add-ons and Chrome plugins to increase the power and sophistication of student projects and learning..
- Use of the new Google Apps integration with Canvas allowing teachers to create new kinds of collaborations in Canvas (i.e. Sheets, Docs, and Presentations).
